Dogs on Thursday

Dogs are good for the soul. No matter how sad, mad, unhappy or depressed you are, they are there by your side. I have nightmares sometimes and when I do I talk or yell in my sleep. Most of the time I know that John will save me (wake me up). Well this time Hutch saved me. He came to my side of the bed, sniffed and nudged my face until I woke up. I love my Hutchy.

All I can ever get are action shots.

I took them both to the vet last week for check ups. Boy that was riot. Starsky is not fixed yet so he likes to pee everywhere. I was able to catch him right before he peed on their Christmas tree.

The staff was entertained by their antics. Lots of doggie rough housing and talking back and forth. They were making quite a racket.

Hopefully next time I won't have to take them by myself.

Tuesday night Knitting-several Tuesdays

Hey Lora, here is Holly with her beautiful new hair. Go yell at her for being a bad blogger. I have been one too lately, so I can call her that.

Here is another wonderful hat from Ruth.

Holly with her next BIG project. We can't wait for her to get started.

We've missed Tabitha the past several weeks. Her hubby thinks he needs to work instead of come home and let her go to knit night.
Tonight is was just Ruth, Sammuel and I. He was awake for the entire time. I got to hold him and he was so sweet. A very serious little boy. Looks like he has a lot of things to think about.
I will have some FOs for you soon.

Wedding Song

True Companion ~Marc Cohn

What were you doing 12 years ago today? Do you remember?

Well on December 10 1995 I was getting married. This is the song I walked down the aisle too.

I loved our wedding with the Christmas decorations, and cake with poinsettias on it. But I would never suggest getting married in December. I had nightmares that we had a blizzard and no one came to the wedding. It did snow a little bit and was very cold. We have never really had a honeymoon, too close to Christmas . We had a dessert reception. It was wonderful, milk, coffee and a keg were next to the chocolate, pies, fudge, cookies and cheesecake.

This is the first year we have not watched our wedding video and put up the Christmas tree. We have always put our tree up on our anniversary. Due to some issues over the past couple weeks I am not sure if we are even going to have a tree this year. But on the other hand I am letting others ruin a beautiful tradition. Wait, I am not turning this into a downer, this is a happy post.

Happy Anniversary John, you still are my true companion.

Yes, I'm still around

Oh my gosh! I am so behind on blog reading and writing. It's taken some time for me to back into the swing of things after being out of town. My mom and dad finally came home from Florida. We are all happy to have them home, especially the kids. They will be home through Christmas and then back to the sunny beaches of Eastern Florida.

I have some FOs and some WIPs

First: the Banana Republic Knockoff hat. A very easy and fun knit. But I ended up with an Olivia sized hat, so I am not quite sure what I did.

Second: The Amanda Hat from the wonderfully talented Gina

Third: The One Row Scarf from the Yarn Harlot.

I will have more for you tomorrow. Holiday open house and a needle felting class, at The Grinny Possum.

Dogs on Thursday

has a special guest this week. This is Lincoln. He is a 10 year old Lab/Boxer mix.
He lives in New Hampshire with Jacob, Nathan, Lora and Brent. He is a big sweetheart.
Lincoln forgot I was there and was very surprised when I walked out of the bedroom one morning.Only one missing is Brent, he was at work.

Here are my boys. They were very very happy to see me when I got home.
Waiting for me to bring treats outside. Starksy laying on my jacket.

Here is Hutch telling him to get away from his mommy. I missed my boys almost as much as I missed my kids.

My New England adventure

where do I begin....the loony that made me miss my flight home, the mysterious Bob, the planes only slightly bigger than crop dusters, grocery stores that have childcare rooms or the wonderful fudge from Van Otis. I can't leave out the beautiful colors that were everywhere
.

I had to take a picture of the olive cart for John. He loves olives.
Here she is the only reason I went on a New England adventure. My wonderful friend Lora.

This is the view looking down the road from the lodge. This mountain is behind the lodge. On Sunday morning when we left the top was covered in snow.

From the left-Lisa, newlywed Ericka, Laurin, Sara, Lora, Caroline and Jackie. I know I did not get pictures of everyone, I wish I had, cause Amanda walked around in her undies and boots.
It kinda felt like we were hanging out in a grandma's overstuffed basement. There was yarn and yarn and more yarn everywhere you turned.

The delicious fudge next to the ever so potent jello shots. There was a least as much knitting as there was eating and drinking. Many FOs were proudly displayed. Some UFOs were finished and there was lots of frogging and ripping to be had by many.
Sarah, Lora and Donna
This is Whiskers, the 17 year old yarn cat. He got a little wild too and snuck into one of the rooms and had himself a good time in the catnip stash. Oh ya Bob. Well Bob was another guest that was staying up stairs. He was the reason that some had to sleep on cots or share beds. We never did see him all weekend. But Lora and I saw his clothes everytime we went in our room. It was a tad creepy to see men's clothes and shoes in out closet area. See the yarn shop was down stairs and about 10 bedrooms were upstairs. I am not going to say much, bit it was no Motel 6. At least we knew that the showers worked in the Bates Motel. But these ladies could have had a good time in an ice fishing shack on a frozen lake.

Added later: I was in Manchester and Randolph, New Hampshire

Sorry no dogs today

They are still as cute as ever, but I am busy getting ready for a trip. I am joining my wonderful friend Lora here. I will have 3 days of knitting, fun, food and some drink.
The house, kids and dogs are being left in the capable hands of John. I hope everyone survives.

I will be back late Monday night...so look for the whole story Tuesday or Wednesday. Wish me luck I am a terrible flyer. I may need to medicate or have several drinks.

Holly, I have packed the battery charger and the spare batteries.
Have a great weekend!

Happy Halloween!

Does anyone else see the irony of Eli dressed as a butcher??
The shepard boy in the back is our neighbor Nathaniel.

Alex as Clark Kent.
I think one of the customers at Grinny Possum Fiber Arts took too long, and this is what became of her husband!

A yard a few blocks from our house.

The baby is really creepy.
I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween!
