knitting in the woods

This is the continuous snack bar with a pool table and arcade games to play with during a knitting break.

We sat up late into the night knitting, laughing and doing a little wine drinking. It is very hard to count your cast on stitches (especially after a couple glasses of wine) when others are yelling out numbers right and left.

Joann weaving on the knitter's loom

We had lots of spinners this year. Mary, Liz, Joann, Rocky, Holly, Ann and Chrystal.
It was wonderful to see the different wheels in motion.

The location is beautiful. It was so serene to walk from the rooms to the main lodge building.
I could hear birds and the crunch of snow under my feet. It was wonderful. I have lots more pictures, I will show more tomorrow.

A weekend filled with knitting

I am off to a knitting retreat hosted by Grinny Possum fiber Arts.
It is just about 30 mins. away, so I won't be too far. I am really looking forward to it. We will have lots of fun knitting in front of the fireplace and enjoying lots of great food.
Keep your fingers crossed that all goes well for daddy. He and the kids will be spending the weekend together.
I have my camera AND batteries, so watch for lots of pictures on Sunday night.

And the winner is.....

Ericka of Armed with pointy sticks Yay woo hoo. She chose a DOT post.

Alex and Olivia got really in to it. They loved drawing the names out. So they started saying you need a 2nd place and a 3rd.

So I said, sure why not. The 2nd place winner is Criquette of Prairie Gumbo She chose some of the intersesting things that seem to happen around me.
She chose a DOT post, and

a bizzare incident my friend and I wittnessed. I was gonna link to it but strangely enough I cannot find it now.
Now for 3rd place, I give you Tabitha /a girl's purls. Her faves are Tuesday night knitting and this Wordless Wednesday.
Ok you lucky three, contact me with your home addys and I will get your prizes out to you this week. Tabitha, I will have your's at Tuesday night knitting so you better get yourself there.

Since we are on the topic of contests go check out knitting gal. It is really easy.

Congrats to Ericka, Criquette and
Tabitha!

Look Ma knitting content/FO Friday

It has been awhile since I have had any knitting content. I have been knitting, so I do have things to show. Some you may have seen on Ravelry already.

I made two different scarves with the incredibly soft Touch Me Due. It is wonderful, but the slight felting is scary. But it makes the yarn look even better. They were short scarves so I (John helped too) made scarf pins out of dpns and some dowl rods. There are different beads on the tops of each one.
The one on the left (seed stitch) was for my MIL for her January B-day.

The other one (yarn harlot one row scarf) was a very late Christmas gift for Aunt Janet. I think she looks wonderful.

You have seen the hats below several times before. I just love the pattern from sleepy eyes knitting

Look in the side bar for The Amanda Hat Gallery to see some of the wonderful hats that have been made. While you are there check some of her other great patterns.

Amanda Hat in Cascade Venezia, for me.>

Amanda Hat "as a toddler" in some unknown baby yarn. I held three strands together.
Cousin Suzannah in the Amanda Hat I made for her birthday. I love the colors of the Noro Kochoran

so much, I had to show the crown.

It's the birthday girls!

Dogs on Thursday-in the snow

We have had some snow over the past week. The boys have had a great time. It has all started to melt so it will be a huge mess by tomorrow.

Since all I can ever get are action shots, next week I will get them while they are sleeping.
Hutch really does like Starsky. It may not look like it, but he does.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I have never been a big fan of Valentine's Day. I am not much into sap. So every year I tell John not to get me anything. I don't do cards. If you want to buy me roses; buy me a bush to plant in the yard. That way I can enjoy them for weeks instead of days. I don't really need candy, but when I want it I buy it myself. Now for jewels, I can go for those but our bank account says no.

He is waiting for the day that it all comes back to bite him in the ass. I tell him it never will be he is not so sure.
I know how he feels about me and he knows how I feel about him.Just the other day we were laughing and giggling, yes giggling(at least I was giggling) on the phone. I was in the parking lot of the grocery and he was telling me he wanted Yuban coffee, now I know this but have been known to buy other kinds. So he is saying yuban and I come back with "you ban good today, no you ban bad" This went on for awhile becasue I was having so much fun. I know, silly but I am easily amused. I went into the store still laughing, talking to myself about how much fun he is and how much I love him. We may try to go out this weekend but a little one has the flu so we will have to see.

Now, for those of you with a different opinion of love...

Has it really been an entire year??

It has. I began blogging one year ago today. I did not think I would have that much to say. Some months I had lots and others not much if anything at all.
But the holidays are over, I have some new and interesting things on the needles and event to look forward to.
On this one year anniversary I want to hear from you.
Leave me a comment, telling me your favorite post of the past year. Then in a day or two I will draw a winning comment for some yarnie prizes.

I wonder what I will have to say in year number two......

What is that noise?

Will we soon be hearing the tinkling of the ivories, or my echoing cries as I get pushed over the edge? My neighbor came over and played it a little. It needs to be tuned and have some
minor repairs. Tomorrow I am going to begin looking for a piano repairman and a teacher. For the past couple years Olivia has been interested in learning to play the piano. This piano fell into our lap courtsey of my mom and brother.

Hey Aunt Doris, do you wanna come for an extended visit??
Or how about you, Lora??
