Really, already?

I cannot believe that my birthday is here already. I think it came faster this time. I have had birthday issues for quite sometime now. I don't know if it is rooted in the years that were spent as a Jehovah's Witness (no birthdays are ever celebrated) or the fear of getting old. Not older, just old. I knit with some wonderful people, several of them are much younger. It is not their fault, but they make me feel old. It does not help that my 20 year high school reunion is in a few weeks. Has it really been that long? Oh and before I get lots of comments saying I should go, this is a relatively small town and I see people I went to school with all the time.
Or maybe I always thought I would be in a different place by the time I was xx years old. Maybe if things were easier ( I know, no one said things would be easy) I would feel better about where I am now and what I am doing. I know that knitting has saved my sanity on many occasions. Birthdays always seem like such a bust. Lots of hoopla then the feeling of, is that it?? I'm not quite sure what I expect though.

My birthday has always been a big reminder that summer is almost over, and school is right around the corner. Now days that is not such a bad thing. I am ready for them to get back to school and have some order in what they do. The kids certainly need to see some other children on a regular basis, I know they are tired of looking at each other.

Ok, feeling really sorry for myself now, need to stop.

Nothing more to see here..... move along

I need some new yarn.

  1. Awww, Birthday Hugs to You! I'm with you on the "what's up with all the hoopla" thing. I just can't see making a big deal out of it. I mean, it's nice that people wish you well, but really, I've always thought parties & cakes & stuff was for kids. That said, Happy Birthday! :)

  2. Go buy the yarn. You are NOT old. My 40th high school grad reunion is coming up in a year or so. I will not go. Those people are old and boring. I haven't changed a bit;-)

  9. Despite how you feel about birthdays (I think we all do if we are completely honest!), I still wanted to wish you a happy birthday! And definitely use it as an excuse to go yarn shopping and get something extra special!
